Broken Forest Collective

Frequently Asked Question

Does Broken Forest Collective have a store that I can visit? No, unfortunately we do not have a public address to visit at the moment. Maybe someday. If we do open a location to the public we will be sure to let you know.

Are there any stores that I can buy licensed Broken Forest Collective products? In addition to purchasing our products at or at an event we officially announce on our site, you can also purchase our all natural soap bars at our retail partner Timber Trade Company, located at 3070 Blake St. Suite 170, Denver, Colorado. Please contact us if you see Broken Forest Collective products in any other locations, as they are more than likely being sold illegally.

How does the tree planting process work? We partner with the non-profit One Tree Planted so that they can plant a tree for each product that we sell. They use a very robust strategy to plant the trees and make sure they thrive. Their timeline is:

  • 0-3 Months Donations are sent to our Partners NGO's in the field.

  • 3-6 Months Saplings are developed in the nurseries.

  • 6-9 Months Trees are planted in the rainy season by local volunteers.

  • 9-12 Months Tree cultivation in irrigated land ensures an 80% survival rate.

  • 12-18 Months Trees are trimmed and pruned for optimal health.

  • 18-24 Months A third party audit and assessment is conducted.

Follow our social media and blog for progress updates on the trees we’ve planted.

Where are the trees planted? Our main area of focus at this time is Boulder, Colorado. The Rocky Mountain region continues to be hit hard by wildfires. Planting in Colorado is necessary to reverse the insurmountable damage that these fires have done. Every tree planted helps protect local animals and people alike, and is vital to maintaining the beauty of the Colorado Rockies.

Why do you use soy wax in your candles? We choose to work with soy wax for a variety of reasons. It's a renewable resource and carbon neutral. It burns more cleanly , and for a longer period of time than paraffin.

How is soy wax made? Soy beans are husked and dried into flake form, then the oil is extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. Leftover bean husks are typically used as animal feed.

Can your candle jars be repurposed? Absolutely! We highly encourage you to repurpose the glass jar or place it into the recycling stream.

Are your fragrances phthalate free? All our fragrances are phthalate free.

Are your products vegan? Our candles and soap bars are considered vegan. Some of our clothing products are made using wool. However, all of our wool is humanely sourced from American farms.

Do you or your suppliers test on animals? Absolutely not. Neither we nor our suppliers engage in animal testing.

Where was my product made? We manufacture our products in several locations around the USA, working with the best in their field. All our products are made in the USA.

What kind of shipping and packaging materials do you use? All of our shipping materials are made from 100% post consumer content, fully recyclable, and naturally biodegradable. The packaging materials used for our clothing and soap are also made from 100% post consumer content, fully recyclable, and naturally biodegradable. The glass jars that are candles are packaged in are fully recyclable and we highly recommend that you either repurpose the jar for your own needs or place the jar into recycling stream.

How are my products handled prior to receiving them? Every single item on is inspected, cared for, and shipped from our smoke-free, pet-free, office. Our office is located in Seattle, WA.

Can I change my order after it is placed? Due to our processing/shipping time, it may or may not be possible. But, please contact us immediately and we’ll do the best we can to help. Depending on the time of day you ordered there is a chance it could get processed and shipped within a few hours, which narrows down the amount of time available to make changes.

Do you ship internationally? No, unfortunately we only ship within the USA at the moment. However, we are constantly reevaluating our shipping policies, so check back for updates.

How should I wash my shirt? Is it pre-shrunk? We recommend washing all graphic shirts inside-out, cold water, and tumble drying on low heat. Most of our graphic shirts are not pre-shrunk, so if you like the fit and do not want to shrink the item, hang-drying is your best solution. Please take this into account when ordering your size & allow for shrinkage.
