Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you based? Broken Forest Collective was started in Denver, Colorado in 2017. Over the next few years we would move across the nation, from coast to coast, making stops in Seattle and Atlanta. At the beginning of 2023 we decided to make the journey back home, and now are back and based in metro Denver again.

Does Broken Forest Collective have a store that I can visit? No, unfortunately we do not have a public address to visit at the moment. Maybe someday. If we do open a location to the public we will be sure to let you know.

Are there any stores that I can buy licensed Broken Forest Collective products? Only at brokenforestco.com or at an event/market we officially announce on our social media or site. Please contact us if you see Broken Forest Collective products in any other locations, as they are more than likely being sold illegally.

Do you offer wholesale ordering? Yes, but we are very selective about which retailers we partner with. If you think you’d be a good fit, use our contact form to reach out.

Where are the trees planted? We donate to both The National Forest Foundation and One Tree Planted as well as other local Colorado companies/foundations in our reforestation efforts.

The National Forest Foundation (NFF) works with the USDA Forest Service to select planting sites on our 193-million-acre National Forest System where the ecological need is greatest. Many of their plantings occur in the Western U.S. where wildfires are driving reforestation need, but they plant in all regions, responding to where trees are needed most.

Our donations with One Tree Planted are focused in the Boulder, Colorado area. The forests of Colorado are near and dear to our hearts, and they continue to be ravaged by wildfires. With several regions losing thousands of trees over the past decade in the Boulder area, we feel this area is important focus on in order to restore soil and landscapes from fire damage made to previously healthy environments.

Why do we need to plant trees? Every year, more and more of our national forests are affected by natural disturbances that cause deforestation. Wildfire, insects and disease - exacerbated by climate change - are jeopardizing the very things that make our forests special. Planting trees helps restore forest cover to these lands, ensuring that our forests can continue to provide wildlife habitat, supply water to millions of Americans, and help fight climate change. Learn more about the benefits of reforestation on the NFF website.

Why don’t you just plant trees and not try sell products on top of it? Reforestation is a cause that is near and dear to us, but we are first and foremost a small business. We’d love to simply plant trees without selling products but that model just isn’t sustainable for us at the moment. Plus, we really enjoy the process of handcrafting products. And we think our stuff is pretty dang cool.

What happens to the trees if I return my product? We send out our donations to our partners on a quarterly basis (for planning and verification purposes) - therefore we are usually able to catch these things and a tree will not be planted for a returned item.

Are your products vegan? All of our tees and outerwear items are vegan. However, some of our headwear products are made using all-natural merino wool. All of our wool is sustainably and humanely sourced. Please refer to each product's description to see the materials they are made of.

Do you or your suppliers test on animals? Absolutely not. Neither we nor our suppliers engage in animal testing.

Where was my product made? We manufacture our products in several locations, working with the best in their field. While we do prioritize American manufacturers, we do have some products that are manufactured over seas. All of our products are designed and printed by hand in America.

What kind of packaging materials do you use? All of our packaging materials are made from 100% post consumer content, and fully recyclable. Please re-use them for your own purposes or redeposit them back into the recycling stream.

How are my products handled prior to receiving them? Every single item on brokenforestco.com is inspected, cared for, and shipped from our smoke-free office. Our office is located in metro Denver, CO.

Can I change my order after it is placed? Due to our processing/shipping time, it may or may not be possible. But, please contact us immediately and we’ll do the best we can to help. Depending on the time of day you ordered there is a chance it could get processed and shipped within a few hours, which narrows down the amount of time available to make changes.

Do you ship internationally? Yes, however, we do not ship worldwide. Please refer to our Shipping Page to find out which countries we ship to.

My package says it was delivered but I can't find it anywhere. What do I do? This happens quite a bit with some carriers. It's usually nothing to worry about! Sometimes packages are marked as delivered before they actually are delivered. Once the order has shipped, Broken Forest is no longer responsible, and we recommend contacting the carrier directly with any delivery issues.

How should I wash my shirt/hoodie? Is it pre-shrunk? We recommend washing all graphic shirts inside-out, with cold water, and tumble drying on low heat. Most of tees and outerwear items are not pre-shrunk, so if you like the fit and do not want to shrink the item, hang-drying is your best solution. Please take this into account when ordering your size & allow for shrinkage.

If an item is pre-shrunk, it will say it in the description on the products page.

How should I wash my beanie? In general, we recommend that you hand wash our beanies if cleaning is needed. Let it air dry flat if you like the current fit. If the current fit is a little stretched and you want to tighten it back up a little, you can put it in a dryer. Please use a dryer bag so they do not get caught on any other items or the dryer itself.

Can I take photos for Broken Forest? Most of our photoshoots are done by photographers who are friends of the company. From time to time we do extend opportunities to collaborate with other artists. Feel free to introduce yourself if you think your style works with the Broken Forest brand. Use our contact form with the subject line "Photography" along with an explanation & links to your work. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to take recreational photographs including our products. Be sure to tag us so we can see them!

Does Broken Forest Collective sponsor musicians, artists, athletes and/or creators? Yes. We do not currently have a public program for sponsorship and generally reach out to the mentioned groups ourselves when we are ready to open our sponsorship. However, it never hurts to contact us if you feel that you would be a good fit with the Broken Forest team :: Email brokenforestco@gmail.com with "sponsorship" in the subject line.
